You enter this place – not quite a stage, not quite an installation, more like the transparent belly of a spaceship, neon-coloured from the 1990s. Plexiglass, cables, magnetic tape. The machine: a rebellious block of nostalgia and future. Johannes Till is not just a musician, he is something like a machine interpreter. He feeds it, he hesitates, he lets the thing stumble and sing. Man and machine in co-dependence. Tape is running. Real tape. Cassettes crackle, reels purr. No laptop, no endless playlist from the cloud. Instead: this warm, woolly waft that sounds like an embrace from something long lost. In the end, you don‘t know if this was a concert? An installation? A manifesto against digitalisation? Or simply proof that beauty sometimes lies in noise.
